About Cooking Girl
Cooking Girl, the best Chinese food in town. Authentic Chinese Food, Sichuan Dish, Dumpling, Noodles, DimSum.
And a super solid quality!
Located at 550 Heights Blvd Ste C, Houston, TX 77007, Cooking Girl operates as a szechuan serving Houston in Texas. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Houston; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Texas are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–9:30 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (713) 684-8021. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is thecookinggirls.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 461 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded szechuan & hunan in Houston.
Houston is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Houston is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Had the pleasure of coming to a beautiful restaurant , light piano music playing in the background , and well plated great tasting food. Felipe was exceptional and sweet. I got Shrimp spring roll 10/10 beef dumplings 10/10 Sichuan beef 8/10 (my only personal dislike was that the way the beef was cooked was a little dry, almost jerky crispy , VERY spicy but I liked that ) Shrimp fried rice 10/10 I was told this restaurant opened about a year and a half ago and while it wasn’t full on a Monday afternoon I feel like people would love to enjoy a meal here with their partner or group of friends.

This is my second time at cooking girl at heights. The food is great as always and the service is very good. The servers were very attentive to our needs from seat selection (we want to watch tv) and other things. Everyone’s favorite is what a fish. The dish gives a perfect combination between the fish texture and the sour of pickles. It also helps cleanse the palate in between spicy dishes. Spicy chicken cube is the best! If you are trying this restaurant/ cuisine for the first time, definitely order this one!! They give a generous portion and the prices are reasonable. These four dishes are perfect for us (a group of four). We were completely stuffed at the end!

This is some of the most authentic Chinese food we've had in the United States, and it truly helped satisfy our homesickness. While the dishes weren't quite as spicy as what you'd find in Sichuan, we actually appreciated the modest adjustment. It was understandably tailored to American tastes and was also more suitable for our seven-year-old son. The staff were warm, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We'll definitely be back and look forward to trying their other locations as well!

Portions are generous ! Pork bao bun was the best , I really like chicken soup dumplings. We’re great with the sauce. Green beets were good. Servers were excellent and very attentive.

Delicious food and great service! We got shrimp dumplings (spicy sour style), pork dumplings, an eggplant/green bean dish, and the seasonal dessert. The sour/spicy dumplings weren’t very spicy at all, they had a great flavor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the eggplant/green bean dish. The servers are very attentive and kind.
